You ever have those moments as a business owner where something is just. so. obvious. and when you put the pieces together you’re like this emoji: 🤦🏻♀️.
Enter my most recent SEO client (content changed for anonymity). She was frustrated that she wasn’t coming up when you searched “Houston Massage Therapist” on Google.
So I took a look at her site and the words “Houston Massage Therapist” were nowhere to be found.
See, site crawlers (which index your site for search results) can only rank you if the words actually appear on your site.
(This is also why it’s so important that text is ACTUAL text, and not a graphic with the text that you exported from Canva and upload as an image.)
When I told my client this, the lightbulb went off and then her hand went to her head 🤦🏻♀️.
Now, just adding the phrase “Houston Massage Therapist” alone isn’t going to get her to show up on the first two pages of Google Search Results. There are other factors that determine your position. But the first step in showing up for a specific search is to have those words on your site.
And when you think about it, it’s just. so. obvious.
